The steel trench is installed, or at least it's placed in a long ditch. We need to return with shims and bolts to create as straight and level a line as possible. 

There is a kind of reckoning with reality when the piece that's been diagrammed in Rhino and rendered in Photoshop actually lands in the site and becomes a thing with real scale. While I was digging the ditch (with help from Jimmy and the Harwood), there was a moment when I thought, 'holy crap, this thing is too long.' 

Only a moment though, and the scale and its relation to the yard is doing everything we hoped. Now to start gathering the stones...
