La Paz stones, gathered by hand from the beaches of Mexico and then by us from the yard of Rocky Mountain Stone here in Albuquerque. (We just a week before sold our pickup.)

New test of the stencil and stain. These stones are larger than the first, so the stencil will need to be enlarged as well. 

For someone more used to working with wood, steel can be a recalcitrant medium. Here Eric grinds down one of the ends to help tighten the joint. 

Still have some regrading to do, but the steel is essentially in place.
